Fortnightly timesheet template

Start, finish, unpaid break and hours for each day, totalled for the fortnight, with lines for the employee and the manager to sign. Download it or print it from this page.

Keeping old timesheets when you switch? The CSV uses the columns LoggerIQ’s timesheet import reads, so past fortnights come across as a read-only record.

One file per person per fortnight keeps it simple or one file for everyone.

The example fortnight is the same one in the download. Switch to blank for fourteen empty rows to fill in by hand.

How to use it

Fill it in the way payroll reads it

  1. One row per day worked

Write the date as day, month and year, then the actual start and finish times, not the rostered ones. A timesheet records what happened.

  2. Record the unpaid break as hours and minutes

Write 0:30 for a half-hour meal break and 0:00 when none was taken. A missed break is worth noting: some awards pay extra for it.

  3. Work out the hours

Finish less start less the unpaid break, as decimal hours: 8 hours 30 minutes less a 30 minute break is 8.00. A finish after midnight wraps to the next day.

  4. Sign it and keep it

The employee and the manager sign and date the printed sheet. Employers must keep time and wage records for seven years, so file it where you can find it.

Bring it into LoggerIQ

Past timesheets import as a record

We run this file through LoggerIQ’s own import in our tests: every column maps itself and every example day imports.

  1. Import your people first, so each row finds its person by email.
  2. An admin opens Settings, Import, chooses Past timesheets and Any spreadsheet (CSV), then the file.
  3. Date, Employee name, Email, Start time, End time, Break, Total hours, Site and Note match themselves. Set the dates to read as Day, month, year.
  4. Check the rows and import. Imported timesheets are kept read-only.

Only days before today are imported, because these are history. From then on, hours come from clock entries in LoggerIQ and a manager approves them in Needs you, so nobody types a timesheet again.
